We chose to work with tallow to create our Solterra Tallow Vitamin C Balm because it mirrors our skin’s own sebum, rich in essential fatty acids, fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E, and K), and skin-repairing nutrients. It’s a powerhouse ingredient that deeply nourishes, protects, and promotes radiant skin.
But our choice goes beyond skin benefits, it’s also about sourcing and sustainability. When derived from grass-fed, pasture-raised animals as a byproduct of responsible farming, tallow becomes a deeply sustainable ingredient. Rather than letting these nutrient-rich fats go to waste, we repurpose them into skincare, supporting full-animal utilization and reducing unnecessary waste.
At the root of this philosophy is a belief in regenerative agriculture. Our soils have been damaged by decades of monocrop farming. We believe the path forward lies in returning to harmony with the land. Ruminant animals and diverse plant life are essential to restoring soil health, rebuilding biodiversity, and rebalancing the ecosystems we depend on.
Tallow isn’t just a skincare choice, it’s a reflection of our commitment to regenerative practices, ancestral wisdom, and full-circle sustainability.
